SELF-GUIDED TRIATHLON TRAINING CAMPS
Your week combines independent training with selected coached and guided sessions. The exact programme is adapted to your fitness, experience and race goals.
Your premium carbon road bike is included for the full week, professionally prepared and set up to your measurements. You’ll also have access throughout your stay to excellent training facilities in Stellenbosch, including a 50 m outdoor swimming pool, 25 m indoor swimming pool and gym.
For your independent sessions, we’ll advise you on the best cycling and running routes based on your planned training, preferred distance and the conditions. We know the local roads, climbs and running routes, so you can concentrate on the session rather than figuring out where to go.

DAY 8 – DEPARTURE
Breakfast, bike return and airport transfer.
Your premium carbon road bike, pool access and gym access are included throughout your stay. We’ll also help you choose suitable cycling and running routes throughout the week, giving you the freedom to train independently while still benefiting from our local knowledge and support.
GROUPS, CLUBS & TEAMS
For larger groups, triathlon clubs and teams, we usually arrange accommodation at the Stellenbosch Academy of Sport (SAS), a dedicated sports facility designed for visiting athletes and teams.
It makes an excellent base for a Triathlon Training Camp, particularly when everyone needs to stay together and we're coordinating swimming, cycling, running, bikes and transport throughout the week.
Group accommodation is quoted according to group size, dates and availability.
AIRPORT TRANSFERS & LOCAL TRANSPORT
Your camp includes return transfers between Cape Town International Airport and Stellenbosch, so there’s no need to arrange a rental car for your training week.
Transport is also included for the guided Cape Peninsula and Chapman’s Peak training day, including transport for you and your rental bike.
Most of your other training takes place in or directly from Stellenbosch, with cycling and running routes selected so you can train independently without unnecessary transfers.
If your programme requires a different training location, we can help advise on the best options and transport arrangements.
ACCOMMODATION IN STELLENBOSCH
Your Self-Guided Triathlon Training Camp includes 7 nights accommodation in Stellenbosch, giving you an ideal base for swimming, cycling and running throughout the week.
Accommodation is selected according to availability and is normally centrally located, with easy access to Stellenbosch’s restaurants, cafés and training facilities.
Because much of your programme is completed independently, staying centrally gives you the freedom to train, recover and explore Stellenbosch at your own pace without needing transport for every session.
For couples or two athletes travelling together, shared accommodation options are available, while single athletes can book their own room.
TRAINING IN THE WESTERN CAPE
Swim. Bike. Run. World-class training in the Cape Winelands and beyond.
SWIMMING
Swimming remains an important part of your Self-Guided Triathlon Training Camp. Your week includes two coached swim sessions, giving us the opportunity to work on your technique and identify practical improvements you can take into the rest of your training.
Outside the coached sessions, you have pool access throughout the week, including access to a 50 m outdoor swimming pool and 25 m indoor swimming pool, allowing you to complete the additional swim sessions in your personalised programme independently.
Where conditions and your programme allow, we can also advise you on suitable open-water swimming options during your stay.
CYCLING
Stellenbosch is an exceptional base for cycling, with quiet Winelands roads, mountain passes and spectacular coastal routes all within reach.
Your week includes a fully guided Cape Peninsula ride over Chapman’s Peak, one of the highlights of the camp. Your remaining bike sessions are completed independently, with distances and intensity built into your personalised training programme.
We’ll advise you on the best routes for each session, taking into account your fitness, training goals, weather and road conditions. Recommended routes can include the Stellenbosch Winelands, Franschhoek, Helshoogte, Paarl and other favourite local training roads.
For selected rides we can provide GPX routes, so you can concentrate on the training rather than navigation.
And, of course, your premium carbon road bike is included for the entire week.
CHAPMAN’S PEAK + BRICK RUN
One of the highlights of your Self-Guided Triathlon Training Camp is a fully guided ride through the Cape Peninsula and over Chapman’s Peak, one of South Africa’s most spectacular coastal roads.
The ride is typically 3–4 hours, with the exact route, distance and pace adapted to your fitness and training programme.
Immediately after the ride, we transition into a 5 km brick run, giving you the opportunity to practise running off the bike under guidance.
Afterwards, you can stay in Cape Town and explore, while we take care of your rental bike and the logistics.
YOUR PERSONAL 3YO TRIATHLON
We finish the camp by bringing the entire week together with your own personal 3YO Triathlon.
Our traditional course is approximately 1 km swim, 43 km bike and 8 km run, giving you the opportunity to practise all three disciplines together and put your week’s training into action.
The distances can be adapted to your fitness, experience and target race, whether you’re preparing for your first triathlon, a 70.3 or a full Ironman.
It’s not about setting a race-day personal best. The aim is to finish the week with a structured multi-sport session and leave Stellenbosch with a clear idea of where your training should go next.
OPEN-WATER SWIMMING
Where conditions and your training programme allow, we can advise you on suitable open-water swimming optionsduring your stay.
Open-water sessions can be useful for practising sighting, wetsuit swimming and becoming more comfortable outside the pool.
RUNNING
Stellenbosch offers a huge variety of running options, from quiet roads and vineyard tracks to flatter recovery routes and challenging hills.
Your personalised programme will include the appropriate running and brick sessions for your fitness and race goals, with most completed independently.
We’ll advise you on safe and suitable running routes, including where to run, suggested distances and which routes work best for recovery runs, longer sessions or hill work.
One of the key sessions of the week is the brick run immediately after your guided Cape Peninsula ride, giving you a supported opportunity to practise the bike-to-run transition.
The week then finishes by bringing everything together in your personal 3YO Triathlon.
GYM & RECOVERY
Your Self-Guided Triathlon Training Camp includes gym access throughout the week, allowing you to incorporate strength, mobility or recovery work into your programme.
You’ll also receive one sports massage during the week, scheduled around your key training sessions to help with recovery.
Your personalised programme will balance the harder swim, bike and run sessions with appropriate recovery, so you arrive at the final 3YO Triathlon ready to put the week together.

WHAT OUR ATHLETES SAY
-10 Celsius & 70km/h wind in Geneva - makes one want to go to some sunny, warm place... Escape to South Africa for some cycling & running with Annchen Clarke (Kona World Championships finisher) and Bram Peereboom(MTB champ) - these two make the most amazing training camps! Top-notch coaching, assured security (in SA!) and a lot of extra attention: sharing with us a bit of their South African dolce vita (wine, wine and more wine!) <3 Dankie Annchen & Bram!
In case you were wondering I did sneak in some time for my iron man training in South Africa! Overdue thank you to Bram & Annchen for arranging out cycling, swimming & running adventures and taking me in as part of the family! I had such a wonderful time, despite having a little too much wine the day before! All my love!
Training in Stellenbosch is a MUST for all triathlon or multisport athletes! Annchen & Bram are super hosts and coaches offering a really focused and personal training camp. I could not recommend more packing your bike up and heading to 3YO in the stunning Western Cape with first class international athlete facilities. You may even bump into a pro-star or two!
There is no denying that every trip changes our way of thinking and seeing the world. It is almost impossible to travel to a different place, to experience new things, to live incredible adventures and then to remain as if nothing had happened. An internal click type occurs! But surely travel is striking in different ways: some are more philosophical and make you rethink your life; while others take your breath away and leave you full of adrenaline. There are priceless experiences, and one of them this time was to practice triathlon in an incredible place and counting on the great help of a local specialized company, the @3yo_trainingcamps
